Ever since I installed FireFox 1.0 PR (Pre-Release), my FireFox has been buggered. The menus and address bar don't work. Eventually I switched to Maxthon (an awesome IE plugin, I think after a couple of weeks I'd rather use Maxthon instead of FireFox).
But, for those of you wanting to know how to fix FireFox, thanks to this forum post I can give some advice. This is how I got FireFox alive again...
- Uninstall FireFox.
- Re-Install FireFox in a different folder.
- Create a shortcut to firefox.exe. Click on 'Properties', and add the following to the target field ' -profilemanager'. When you start firefox it will popup a profile manager screen.
- Start FireFox and add a new profile.
- Then run FireFox again and Voila! All that's left is importing your IE favorites and cookies (do that from the File menu :)
There's nothing quite like that “Aha!” feeling you get when finally figuring out a large architectural problem. Then there's the excitement of actually going and implementing the solution.
I love this job.
It doesn't happen very often, but I'm really stumped. Is there such a thing as programmer's block? No matter how hard I try, I just can't figure out how to solve my architectural problem. In a situation like this it's probably best to take a few paces back and view things from another angle.
Sigh.
