Atlas Control Toolkit

Free Atlas Control Toolkit Test Automation Harness Published

If you are reading this, hopefully by now you've checked out both Atlas and the Atlas Control Toolkit

Scott Guthrie blogged about the Atlas Control Toolkit a few weeks back.  This is exciting because:

  1. It is the start of what is going to be a great control toolkit of 50-100 controls built for Atlas and ASP.NET
  2. All source code for the controls is shipped free with a reusable modification license.  This makes it really easy to learn how to build new Atlas enabled controls
  3. We are using a collaborative, open source model with it and now allow community checkins and code contributions

You can run the Atlas Control Toolkit controls online, and download it here.

Bliss

I just returned from an emotional return to Bliss in South West Kerry, Ireland the place I called Home from 1986 to 2001. I was one of the first people in Ireland on this Internet back in 1994 cycling with my laptop on my back past the place that would become the most ubiquitous photo in the entire world.

Although it’s no longer a farm field, having been developed into a golf course and I didn’t have the wide angle lens as the original photographers did, you can clearly identify the mountains in the background. Anyone who knows me may have noticed me daydreaming; this is where I always go, cycling on the roads, breathing the crisp clean air among the magical landscape that truly is bliss.

Windows Live Developer

I just came from the TechEd session that Ray Ozzie told me to attend on Windows Live!

Most of us have been to the beta site, and as with our good friends at Google it’s very sparse, but that’s why developers are needed to build out Windows Live.

Your online world gets better when everything works simply and effortlessly together. That's the basic idea behind Windows Live. So the things you care about—your friends, the latest information, your e-mails, powerful search, your PC files, everything—come together in one place. This is a brand new Internet experience designed to put you in control. And this is just the beginning—you'll see many more new services in the coming months.

The possibilities are endless and the opportunities are tremendous for all of us to create the ultimate User Experience, so what are you waiting for? Fire up Visual Studio, install the SDK’s and let’s start building out Windows Live for everyone on the planet.

We have come a long way from the days of public outcry about Microsoft’s inattention to security. Today the company is built upon a strong strategic foundation with acute attention to every detail regarding the security of our networks, our data and our PC’s.

Here at TechEd in Boston I attended a comprehensive Strategic Briefing yesterday with Ben Fathi, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President, Security Technology Unit

Building Trust in Computing
While the industry has collectively made progress in responding to evolving security threats, there is still much to be done to establish trust in computing. Microsoft General Manager of the Security Technology Unit, Ben Fathi, outlines Microsoft's strategy in shaping a future that realizes the full potential of the interconnected world, as well as, detail progress made in security to better protect customers.

Three years ago the audience would have been hostile, now we are extremely attentive and appreciative of the extreme turn-around Microsoft has accomplished regarding security. This work will never be finished and we all have a role to play writing and rewriting code that is secure.
