Software Isn't Social

Wallflower at the Web Party  - A story in todays NYTimes failed to mention what should be common knowledge by now, Friendster attained it's initial burst of fame by employing queen bees to attract geek guys to be their page view drones.

Social software never was, interaction on a network is communication not socializing. MySpace is a form of digital expression for young people, the socializing happens when they aren't on-line.

Blogging isn't social, we're in the media keeping each other informed.

I was at a social event in NYC the other night hosted by a new gadget blog, but most of the attendees received their invitations from a PR firm, we weren't fans of the site. There is a new blog network that I believe depends on clicks and page views from India, as many others depend on adolescent males clicking through while misrepresenting them to advertisers as business influencers..

On the internet two guys with six blogs and thirty six identities can manufacture a consciences. All they need is a link farm, a clickbot server, a PR firm. a VC handing out IPO stock shares and an off-shore Bank account to stash all the cash.
