ISV's Unite

I'm at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2005 in beautiful Minneapolis, the sun is always shining and the convention center is just the right size.

Yesterday I spent the day going to a Doug Burgum Q & A and and the World Wide ISV party and another Q & A with Margo Day.

Doug Burgum is senior vice president of the Business Solutions business group, one of Microsoft Corp.’s seven core business centers, he came from the acquisition of Great Plains. Great Plains, bCentral and Navision together now form  Microsoft Business Solutions.

The reacquiring theme of both Q & A's was the problems faced by ISV's who have been Microsoft Partners and Great Plains or Navision Partners, they need a horizontal way to approach two or more separate Microsoft divisions and I feel their pain.

Many of these ISV's have been in the business over twenty years, they were extremal articulate and by voicing a consensus view with rousing applause from their piers got Doug and Margo's attention.
