Andrew Brust just back from speaking at VSLive in San Francisco gave a great presentation last night on ASP.Net 2.0. Andrew just gave this talk to a group of ISV's but not at VSLive, ASP.Net links by ADO.Net to SQL Server 2005. A lot of this is new territory where names and references are changing quickly, but it's exciting to watch it all fall into place.
SQL Server 2005 is one of the most anticipated products from Microsoft (this is not your Fathers data base)! Andrew was impressive last night, I could have sat through his talk two or three times with the hopes that more of it would sink in. Business Intelligence through asynchronous data fetching is hot right now, so hot that Andrew is recruiting DBA's with knowledge of ADO.Net.
I'm not a DBA, nor do I play one on TV, but I'm looking forward to SQL Server Connections next month in Orlando. The conference has three concurrent conferences happening at once, but as the lines are blurring between ASP.Net, Visual Studio.Net and SQL Server, I'm hoping we will have the opportunity to learn more about SQL Server for Developers. Bill Vaughn is going to be there and he heads up a group active in the aera of SQL for developers. Kimberly Tripp will also be there passonality explaining the new features of SQL Server 2005.
