Microsoft and Yahoo! Announce Landmark Interoperability Agreement to Connect Consumer Instant Messaging Communities Globally
Everybody was talking at the Web 2.0 conference last week, including apparently Microsoft’s MSN and Yahoo. Was there something in that bottled water, or is it that NorCal air?
I attended the workshop Building a Developer EcoSystem (Sponsored by MSN Search) with Microsoft's Bubba Murarka and Chris Butler and delighted in showing them I was running Windows Vista, the OS formally known as Longhorn on my laptop.
At the MSN sponsored dinner Yahoo's reserved table was next to the Microsoft reserved table, were they passing notes?. After dinner I got a chance to talk to Yusuf Mehdi who remembered me from another conference and from my blog, I urged him to establish an MSN presence in NY because it’s the Media capital of the world.
I jumped in to rescue Ray Ozzie from several Silicon Valley FREE OS zealots and we got to talking about Microsoft and blogs, so I told him the story of the two Paul Mooney blogs. The other Paul Mooney blogger is a Lotus Notes blogger, Ray knows Notes so he said he would email this Notes blogger and he did!
Now its not every day I get an email from Ray Ozzie!
Checked my mail this morning and this little message was in my inbox
Paul,
Tonight I met the real Paul Mooney. He said that I should send a note to you, telling you that you should c’mon over to our side.
Best regards,
Ray
So if a Notes blogger can talk to a DotNet blogger why can't MSN Messenger talk to Yahoo Messenger? In a Web 2.0 world it's all about interoperating, glad to see Microsoft is getting the message.
