I was on the same flight back to NY as Joshua Schachter so we had a chance to continue the long conversation that was the Web 2.0 experience. I was telling Joshua how last years conference was more intimate with everyone attending the same general session and all the same parties. There was more action in the hallways, meeting rooms and restaurants this year as the VC’s were there in abundance.
Last year was a celebration of the Bay area’s considerable contribution the WWW with Amazon, ebay, Craigslist, Google and Yahoo all taking a bow with long well appreciated applause.
People make the web go round and it’s always great to meet the people you know on the web face 2 face. Talking to New Yorkers like Bram Cohen, David Sifry, Bob Wyman and Jason Calacanis is easy because we speak the same language and have had a shared experience.
The Web 2.0 conference is fabulous at creating this sense of a shared experience by welcoming a large group of people and producing a community by day two. John and Tim did an excellent job of guiding us along the journey, facilitating an atmosphere of learning by always being positive and upbeat.
The web is the land of possibilities and this conference draws many of the most imaginative and creative people who can make things happen between connective systems and people.
