Introducing VMware Server : Free Virtualization server for Windows and Linux

Though the story was already out, VMware waited till midnight to put the links in place. Here is the what VMware server page says:

VMware Server replaces VMware GSX server and add few more features including support for 64-bits guest operating systems.

Provider Toolkit for ASP.NET 2.0

The provider toolkit for ASP.NET 2.0 beta 2 is now available at MSDN.

"The provider model is used throughout ASP.NET 2.0. It is a means of writing each of the technologies used so that new versions can easily be created and plugged in. For example, if you need to access a different database or authentication server, you can create a provider for it. ASP.NET 2.0 will then work with that provider just as it works with the existing features. This makes ASP.NET 2.0 much more flexible, expandable and customizable than before. "

AltovaXML - Free XML engine

Altova have made available their XML engine that it uses in its product line including XMLSpy®, MapForce®, and StyleVision® as free download.

Konfabulator is now free

Yahoo! has bought the Konfabulator, the widgets maker for windows. But the real deal is that you can get it free now.

"To help popularize the widgets, Yahoo plans will give away the Konfabulator software that empowers the applications. Konfabulator had been charging $20 for the software. Anyone who bought version 2.0 of the software since mid-May will be given refunds, said Konfabulator CEO Arlo Rose."

Mozilla releases Firefox 1.0.5

Mozilla Foundation has released a security upgrade to their flagship browser Firefox (about 12 fixes).

The June refresh of patterns & practices Enterprise Library is now available as of July 1st.

A coincidence, I statred with dotnetjunkes about a year ago and with TechEd 2004 India in progress. And here I am starting with DevAuthority when TechEd 2005 India (New Delhi) will start from tomorrow. It is nice to be here and it was a great experience with dotnetjunkies. AMD sues Intel : The show is on

AMD has filed with federal district court for the district of Delaware, an antitrust complaint against Intel, alleging Intel of forcing major customers to accept exclusive deals, withholding rebates and marketing subsidies as a means of punishing customers who buy more than prescribed quantities of processors from AMD, threatening retaliation against customers doing business with AMD and other charges.

Hector Ruiz, AMD Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer has put up an open letter accusing Intel of monopolist.

Is this an desperate act from AMD ? I do not think so. They had been doing good till date but Intel has been able to catch up after their x64 failure. So, if you forgot about or missed the Microsoft Vs DOJ antitrust trial, get ready for another show.

AMD is holding a press conference Tuesday morning.
