Here's a link to some prototyping work we did during and following the “Longhorn“ PDC in Oct. 2004: http://www.parallelspace.net/knowledge#ParallelspaceCommunities.
We call it Parallelspace Communities. Parallalspace Communities is about enabling a group collaboration solution and experience in Windows “Longhorn” that is tightly integrated into the Longhorn shell experience and is a killer application for WinFS peer-to-peer synchronization.
The prototypes are “UI functional“ but at present, there is no direct integration with WinFS.

We have no immediate plans to further our design and implementation of Parallelspace Communities but we are interested in talking to others who are considering the need for a similar solution. We might consider an open-source effort to create something similar.
The only thing we're particular about is the name Parallelspace Communities.
