Testing yet another Blogging tool VisualBlogger - like BlogJet you type into a design window - no HTML. So far so good.
Issues:
- It's not been tested on Large DPI screen - I use 125 Dpi to reduce eye strain.
- No way to start a list inside a paragraph and avoid a blank line before the start of the list.
- The blog configuration dialog is confusing. It appears that you're required to click the new button before you started adding details. On my first try I added all my details, only to discover save wasn't enabled.
- When you use the combo box in the configuartion dialog it doesn't automatically bring up your settings. You have to click another button to get hem to display.
- Line wrapping isn't turned on in the text editor - this is annoying. If you have several sentences that should appear in side one pargraph tag, then you must use the html view. Further, it is sort of enabled - it just wraps at the wrong place - probably related to the DPI problem.
- I can't figure out how to enable the spell checking.
- List items aren't getting close tags
- Once I'd saved my blog configuration, I couldn't make it the default via the configuration dialog.
Ok, it doesn't offer all of Technocrati's services, but Google Web Alerts will send you an email when Google finds something new that matches your request. Seeing who is linking to your blog is as simple as "link:http://dotnetjunkies.com/WebLog/mlevison". The added bonus Technocrati will only tell you when other blogs link to you, Google will eventually find any link. A cool toy for ego surfers everywhere. Found via Google Weblog a weblog about Google.
Update: After a few weeks of using Web Alerts, I find them pretty spotty - somethings google finds very quickly and others never get found. Technocrati has its limitations, but overall its better.
