In my last post I stated that XOP was a binary XML standard. I was wrong. Simon Fell was kind enough to point that out. Typical case of post first and read later. Hey, I gotta work, too, don't I?
At any rate, I had read before that DIME, which I used commercially at the end of 2002 and Microsoft was all over, is dead. Don Box was pushing* PASWA. An older version of the SOAP MTOM, which is based on XOP, says it was “inspired by” PASWA. Does anyone know the real history of XOP and PASWA? What will the Microsoft story be with respect to binary SOAP attachments in indigo?
* Box's links are still broken. Bad for the community, in my opinion. His entry is dated 2004-04-22. You'll have to jump down to the right date.
