Really Remote Debugging: Fixing the Mars Rover

Here's an EETimes article on how they fixed the Spirit rover. This is a good example to share when management says they don't need to do load testing.

Does anyone know a list of the most expensive QA failures? $1 Billion loss of a previous orbiter has got to be one of them. Fortunately this one was not a $400 Million mistake. It was too bad they missed this one on the ground, but you've got to hand it to them for including the debugging tools on  the delivered product. Which is another reason to share this story with management. While a testing failure, it was a supportability success. It saved our nation a lot of money.
