Learning C++ .Net
Adding a new item on my list of side items -> learning C++ .Net
I walked down to borders in Bellevue this afternoon and bought Microsoft Visual C++ .Net Step by Step This is the first “Step by Step“ book I have ever got. I usually go straight to the more advanced books, but I figure I better start with C++ from the beginning.
Why am I interested in C++ all of a sudden? Several reasons, but I will only go into one right now: I have been putting it off too long. I started to teach myself C++ right before .net beta 2 came out. I think I only got about 3 chapters into Beginning C++ 6 before I decided to start learning C#. Now that I have C# down (language that is), it is time to get back to C++. Not to offend anyone, but ever since I started learning to program I have been striving to become a real programmer and it seems like “real programmers“ at least know C++
Anyone have advice for someone that is following this language path:
- VBA
- VB 5 - 6
- VB Script
- JavaScript
- Coldfusion
- Java 1.2 (never got to use at work)
- C#
- Now C++
A little perl in there, but not enough to count. Anyways, I will be trying to post some useful stuff on my way to learning C++.
Going to miss the meetup in Seattle tonight, now that I am comfy in my hotel room and have this new C++ book that I'm jazzed up to dig into...
