Zune + Zune on Vista RTM No Problem - Patch Fix Driver etc...
I feel the need to post this because I am gratefull for the internets helping me with this. It really was easy. First Zune Software: 1. Get the files for the cd if you accidently left yours at work like I did: http://rapidshare.com/files/3139485/ZuneSetup.rar 2. Get this Zune Software Installer Vista patch: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=20443 and follow the directions here: http://www.zune-online.com/news/zune/patch-zune-to-run-on-vista.html 3. Now that the Zune software is running on Vista, connect your Zune and tell Vista to find the drivers on the root of the HDD/Partition that you installed Zune software to. I think the inf file is in the Program Files/Zune directory, but Vista found it automatically. Thank you linked posts and internets. Zune works perfect with my Zune, sync tested and marketplace tested.

Awesome! BeforeShopping.com! Deal Site Consolidation! Rated Good [4 out of 5].
I usually check slickdeals.net, dealtaker.com, and a few other deal sites before I go shopping for certain things. But sometimes I feel like I dont have time to check them all and then feel somewhat depressed for not getting a deal because Im too lazy.  But now I can be Efficient! instead of Lazy! because beforeshopping.com consolidates all those sites into one searchable page! I just wish they would add RSS feeds to the search results, but the site is fast and simple and im liking it more each day!

AdBlock for IE: AdMuncher
This works great. Although I miss the highlighting of IFrames and other objects on a page to customize my blocking experience like in AdBlock, the updateable list of ad sites in AdMuncher seem to be near 100% spot on! So I dont have to configure all my pages the first time I visted them like I had to in AdBlock for that firefox junk. Lots of options to tinker with AdMuncher but it has blocked everything I wanted it to, and nothing I didnt so far!

Vote for Kaysar on Big Brother 6!
For those of you that are fans of Big Brother, Kaysar was kicked out of the house but we can get him back in by voting for him at the Big Brother 6 area of CBS.com. I wrote a dumb little program to automatically vote every five seconds for Kaysar if you want to download it at http://he3.org/VoteForKaysarSetup.msi Just a little form submission using WebRequest.

Just letting the earth know we just set up a Wiki here at work.   It will be used by all the developers for a start.

Also, the FreeiPod experiment seems to have stalled at three referalls, Here is my referral link if you want to take part, or just check it out for yourself.

60% of a Free iPod! All From the Blogosphere! (Update03)

My buddy asked me how I was getting referrals.   He thought I was spaming newsgroups or soliciting my family!  But its just from you guys alone that I now have three of five referrals!   At this rate of one person per day, I should be reporting on notification of estimated delivery date soon.

I found this article from Wired.

Right now my concern isnt if this is legit, or as my buddy says, “Your getting scammed”, its more like, “I just got some DVDs in the mail and coupons for free instore rentals from Blockbuster and I hope to get a iPod.”  Neat stuff.

Here is my referral link if you were already going to try Blockbuster but dont mind helping me attempt to get an iPod from 'The Man'

Thanks!

Henry

Free iPod Update02, Another Referral and More Proof?

Alright! Another 24 hours and another referral!   Thanks to you #2!  Only three more to get, so, if you want to attempt this too. Please use my referral link here.

So far this is going easy.  At this rate it should only be three more days.

Top of the Pyramid, Blockbuster Rental and Free iPods

Ive seen so much spam about free freeiPods.com and would have never thought about signing up until I read on lockergnome that CNN and Tech TV's Screensavers have had positive comments.  Also the person behind it all is the CEO of Gratis Network.   They are a valid company, and yes, you do get a free iPod in the end.

The only downsides I have seen are that the iPods may be refurbished and it takes a month or two to ship

So I signed up.  That is my referal link if you want to do the same. I did use Jeremy's referal link to be fair, and if you were wondering, I signed up to try out Blockbusters online rental 2 week free trial.   I was surprised I didnt have to pay anything and I was interested in online rental anyway and I trust Blockbuster!   Read the fine print on the video professor before you try that though.

An Idea for Countering Terrorist Kidnappings

Why not offer the kidnappers something other than what they demand, but something they could not refuse.

For example, take the Lockheed Martin kidnapping that has a deadline of tomorrow.   The scumbag kidnappers want all westerners to leave.   I suggest telling them that we cannot do that, but we will build them a hospital for children if they release their hostage.   I know this will not end kidnappings, and it may cause more of them to happen.   But I feel it is worthy of discussion.

OK, I'm off to work now.

Hell Hath Frozen - Henry Erich III Will Install Linux

Im worried.  Of all people, I thought I would be the last one to use Linux (just typing the word made me feel ill =])  Last night I downloaded Suse 9.1.   Tonight I will be installing it.

What am I doing you ask?!?!

  • Suse installs next to Windows on its own partition so I can dual boot.
  • Suse installs as easy as Windows (so they say) off the CD.
  • I honestly think I like the ?KDE? interface, I will find out tonight though.

What am I imagining a few of you ask?!?!?

  • Installing this and a Media Center app on one of my Xboxes.
  • Dusting the cobwebs off of the 450mhz boxes.

I think the MS vs Linux wars are annoying and I dont get involved, but honestly I have been the opposite of interested in actually installing Linux on one of my own machines.   Why am I scared?   Well if I, of all people, am doing this - How many have done it before me.

Im sure I will post my thoughts on Suse 9.1 - whether it sucks ass or converts me (HAHAHA).   But the battle has already been won by Linux.  That being getting me to actually install Linux.   Something I would consider a huge waste of my time in the past.   (I used to spit at the idea of a Linux box on my personal network)
