Windows XP Service Pack 2 Enhancements

2 new interesting documents on Microsoft website about enhancements in the new Windows XP SP2, all focused about security.

The first document is Changes to Functionality in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Update) and talks about the set of security technologies introduced with this new Service Pack that will help to improve the ability of Windows XP-based computers to withstand malicious attacks from viruses and worms. The technologies include network protection, memory protection, safer e-mail handling, more secure browsing, and improved computer maintenance.

The second document is Deploying Windows Firewall Settings for Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 and talks about one of the more interesting (for me) features in this new Service Pack, the Windows Firewall. This article describes how to deploy the appropriate configuration settings for Windows Firewall on an organization network so that it is enabled and providing protection, and so that communications are not impaired.

Changing Linux resolution on Virtual PC 2004

An interesting tips from Dariusz Parys. I've not tryed yet to install Linux on Virtual PC 2004, but seems that the standard resolution under Virtual PC 2004 is 800x600... not too good.

To have a better resolution, you can manually modify the XF86Config file and edit the monitor, device and screen section to apply your requirements. Good to know! :)
