After several years of struggle the Tamil Nadu police in India, have finally killed the elusive forest brigand Veerappan.

Veerappan along with his three close aides were killed in an encounter by the Tamil Nadu and karnataka Police. A Special Task Force ( STF ) had been setup to nab Veerappan. Veerappan is probably one of most deadliest bandit of the recent times.
The crimes he commited included Sandalwood smuggling, Killing about 2000 elephants for Ivory, murder of about 130 people, raping tribal women, kidnapping for ranson and many more.Veerappan has been committing crimes right from his age 10 and now he is 61-62!!! His activities were based entirely based in the Sathyamangalm forests in Tamil Nadu, India and it was very very difficult to track him in those 6000 sq. feet thick forests.
He started his carrer as an Elephant poacher. And now he was able to control the entire government, law and bureaucracy from the forests. He also had connections with other banned organizations like the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Tamil Nadu Liberation Army (TNLA).
But to some Veerappan was a modern day Robin Hood. He helped the tribal people. he helped the villagers by paying them huge money for fodd stuff given to him.
There are a lot of films on this guy. I remember Ram Gopal Varma's Jungle and the film “Veerappan- The Last Badit” directed by Chris Hooke. There was alos a very good malayalam movie. I dont remember the name.
In photos this guy looks very simple with a great moustache. And this man has thousands of crores with him. What for??? He had no opportunity to spend that money for him or for his family. Then what for was all this?? Why did he live such a tough life in the forests??
After the wonderful Google Desktop Search, what is google's next big plan? There are a lot of speculations. Is it the Google IM or Google Web browser? Anyway, look at these two links:

Day 5 washed out.
India's bid to level the series with Australia has been spoilt because of rain in Chennai. The second test between India and Australia was abandoned as a draw. In the first innings, opener Virender Sehwag hit 155 to help India to a 141-run first innings lead, but Damien Martyn scored 104 to lead Australia's fightback on day four.
Australia had won the First Test by 217 runs. The third game in the four-match series begins in Nagpur a week tomorrow.
Man of the match: Anil Kumble

Oh Shit!! The match has not yet started. Its 10.30 AM.
Oh God! Look at this. Its raining in the “City of No Rains”- Chennai. We didn't need it today. Today is the last day of the Indo-Aussie test match. And this match was going very interesting. There would have surely been a result.
Oh Please, No rain today!

Yesterday we Student Champs from Chennai had a small (perhaps the best) meeting with Mr Tyson Dowd, Academic Developer Evangelist, Asia-Pacific and Australia (APAC), Microsoft.
This was perhaps one of the best meetings we have ever had. We spent about 90 minutes with him. Tyson has worked with Jim Miller on the CLR since its early days ( even before it got its current name ). He says it was called Project 42. He has also written a GC and a RTTI system for a Prolog like language.
He was talking about Imagine Cup. Imagine Cup finals seems to be great!!! To be at the finals and enjoy the atmosphere there is itself a great treat.
This year its goin' to somewhere near Tokyo.
His description of the Microsoft Redmond Campus and life @ MS was very inspiring. Parties and celebrations seem to be essentials of Microsoft. I still dont understand how work goes on at MS!!
