The little schemer

I read that two professors on Northeastern University have developed a scheme compiler for the CLR in Brad Abrams blog. This reminded me of The Little Schemer by Daniel Friedman, which is one of my favorite computer science books of all time. The book is funny and the key points are illustrated with cute drawings, akin to those in children’s books. The book might not teach a seasoned programmer any new tricks, but it still is worth reading because it is an excellent example on how you introduce newcomers to programming.
My copy is the fourth edition which was released in the mid nineties. This edition has been updated by Matthias Fellisen, who is one of the professors behind the scheme compiler for the CLR.
