Community Server Blogs On SqlJunkies

Hi All,

We're almost there - We just launched Community Server Blogs on SqlJunkies http://sqljunkies.com/weblog/ - With your help we are hoping to get them running on DNJ as soon as tomorrow. We need some pounding and bug reports - we think we caught all the major bugs, but would like to make sure before rolling out to DNJ mainly because of the shear size of the DNJ WebLog's DB which is now well into GB's.

You can find out where to post bug reports here: http://sqljunkies.com/WebLog/sqljunkiesfaqblog/archive/2005/05/25/15647.aspx

Thanks again for the wait!

And to the people waiting for their blogs, I think we're near if not over 100 now - your blog will be started as soon as we roll out CS!

CS and SPAM

Hi All,

Spam is going crazy right now. What I recommend is turning off comments for a few days. We currently have the CS code base converted and running within our architecture. The only thing left to do is get the data migrated. I've tried a few of the migration tools but they aren't cooperating. Saturday is set aside to get this finished and then we'll be taking the blogs offline one by one and going into beta.

Also, if you know of any tools out there for migration from .TEXT to CS please post, i think i've found most of them but maybe not.

Thanks,

Donny

It's Running!!!!

Hello All,

I finally have an update. Last week was very hectic with a move etc. but i JUST (as in right now) was able to successfully migrate SqlJunkies.com WebLogs to community Server Blogs! The full migration isn't finished on my local computer, but if successful I'll be taking down SqlJunkies.com Blogs tomorrow and running the full upgrade. Depending on how long that takes I may move on to DNJ or wait until the following day. Regardless, we should be up within a day / 2!

Upgrade Utility Finished

I just got word an upgrade utility from .TEXT to Community is finished. Tomorrow I'm going to run the utility locally to test - if it's successful we'll be taking the blogs down for the upgrade which I'll make a post about before we do with the estimated time we'll be down (which i won't know until i run it locally).

To all the people who have emailed about starting a blog, after the upgrade you'll be contacted for the required information!

Thanks,

Donny

Update from Scott Watermasysk (READ) - One Week Until New Release Upgrade.

“Hey Donny, We just release the first Release Candidate yesterday. It will probably been another week or so until I have an upgrade tool ready. -Scott“

Why are Bloggers Leaving? Stand By!

Hello All,

It's been brought to my attention that some DNJ bloggers are leaving because of “site problems” we are well aware of the problems and have been patiently watiing the new build of .TEXT (and YES it is .TEXT problem, under strain it errors out and don't believe anyone that tells you otherwise). I have emails into Scott, the developer, telling him of the severity of the problems. He promised me over a month ago we'd have a new build in Jan. and still haven't received it. We are very close to going with a new solution. If you know of any please let me know.

Again, if you stand by the problem will be fixed as soon as possible. If you are experiencing problems let us know, all it requires is a .TEXT application restart to kill the cache.

Thanks,

Donny

    How are our Blogs Doing??

Hello All, This is a community feedback post regarding the .NET Junkies Bloggers - so feel free to be brutally honest. Basically I’ve been the “Moderator” of our WebLogs as far as who gets a Blog (yes we do deny people) and who can maintain a Blog based off of what they post (yes we have kicked people). I don’t want to get into details on how I judge this – I just want to know how we stack up and how we’re doing? We know there are some issues with the runtime we use (very small) so please don’t post about that. These bugs are being worked on and will be fixed soon! We promise! I look forward to your feedback! Thanks! Donny Mack

    Online Extortion Ring Broken Up

Three men, ages 21, 22, and 24, were taken into custody this week in separate arrests in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Saratov and Stavropol regions of southwest Russia. The men have not been charged, but are believed to be part of a ring that uses legions of compromised or "zombie" computers to launch denial of service attacks against online sports betting parlors ("sports books") that refuse to pay protection money, says Felicity Bull, a spokesperson for the National Hi-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU).

Just as I suspected: Night's Doc. Was a Fake

Who watched” The Buried Secret of M. Night Shyamalan”? While the show was entertaining, it was obviously not a doc, but one big ad. campaign. I mean really, if there was such a feud why would “The Village” sponsor it :-) More:
